Blue Man Group: About the Theater
Blue Man Group at Universal CityWalk is a one hour and 45-minute performance that is a mixture of different elements and acts, from heart-pumping percussion performances with the famous splattering paint to comedy and theatrics. And with a crazy grand finale that involves a gigantic dance party with balls that light up dropping from the ceiling, this is show that has a little something for everyone!
What makes this Blue Man Group show different than any other is that it takes place in a custom-designed theater that was remodeled just for this show. Contained within sound stage 18 at Universal, the Blue Man Group Theater opened on June 6, 2007 and features seating for 1,015 spectators, making it an intimate performance no matter where your seat is located.
Fans inside are seated into one of five “zones” in stadium-style seating – a “poncho” zone (which could mean getting splattered with paint or other materials), a premium zone in the middle section’s first three rows and three other zones that also include ADA (American with Disabilities Act) seating.
The theater itself is a bit hidden from the main path at Universal CityWalk. Because this sound stage used to be part of Universal Studios, patrons should look for a pathway and Blue Man Group signs (in between the Hard Rock Café and the entrance to Universal Studios Florida) that will lead back to the Blue Man Group Theater.
The theater also features a Blue Man Group-theme lobby area (where you can also grab photos with the cast after the show), a concessions area, a remodeled gift shop and plenty of restrooms for men and women. We do recommend arriving at the theater 30 minutes ahead of time and getting in your seats before the performance begins, as you might get singled out by a Blue man if you are late.
Additionally, there is an LED board with constant jokes scrolling before the show starts that actually entices and captivates the entire audience before the real entertainment even begins! Parking for Blue Man Group is also located a decent walk away from the theater, so be sure to take that into account when planning your timing for the evening.
