Eating Out Near The Lion King
Heading to Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre to take in Disney’s smash hit The Lion King? Then here are some options for pre- or post-show eats for any budget. From the frugal to the fancy, we’ve got you covered!
1. Quick Bites
Times Square is full of options for people looking to grab a quick snack before the curtain rises. In the mood for a quick kebab, or other Turkish fare? Then head to 43rd and 9th to Turco Mediterranean Grill. Or if salad is more your speed, there is a Chop’t on Broadway and 41st street. Other staples include Euro Pan, Cafe Europa, and Pax, which will make sure you’re in and out in no time at all.
2. Moderate Bites
New York City is known for its Chinese food -- you can’t go two blocks without stumbling across a takeout place. But John’s Shanghai, located on 46th Street between 6th Avenue and Broadway, is the real deal. You won’t have the wait you might have at a place like Ruby Foo’s, but the food will be just as good. Tony’s DiNapoli has two locations, one of which is in Times Square on 43rd Street between 6th and 7th Avenues. It’s a charming eatery with a family-style Italian menu, and some of the warmest, most gregarious waiters you’ll meet.
3. Fancy Bites
You can’t write about where to eat on Broadway without mentioning Sardi’s, which has been a staple on the Great White Way for nearly a hundred years. Located at 234 West 44th Street, Sardi’s features both early and late seating for the pre- and post-show crowds. There are thousands of celebrity caricatures on the walls of this iconic restaurant, the owner of which was a great lover of the theater. Looking for a boutique experience? Then Chimichurri Grill is the spot for you. Located on 9th Avenue between 43rd and 44th streets, this small steakhouse boasts an adventurous Argentinian menu, featuring all grass-fed meats.
