Emmy winner Amy Schumer makes her Broadway debut in Meteor Shower, written by comedy legend Steve Martin. This new show, opening at the Booth Theater on November 29 after previews begin on November 1, has had productions at San Diego’s Old Globe Theater and New Haven, Connecticut’s Long Wharf Theater. The four-character play also stars Tony winner Laura Benanti (Gypsy), Keegan-Michael Key (Netflix’s Friends from College, Key and Peel) and Tony nominee Jeremy Shamos (Clybourne Park). Four-time Tony winner Jerry Zaks (currently represented on Broadway by the smash hit revival of Hello, Dolly!) directs.

Set in the Ojai, California, home of Corky (Schumer) and Norm (Shamos), the play revolves around a strange dinner party with guests Laura (Benanti) and Gerald (Key). The two couples quickly descend into psychological warfare à la Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? as the titular disturbance causes giant rocks to start falling from above. Martin’s previous Broadway writing credit is for collaborating on the musical Bright Star with Edie Brickell. His plays Picasso at the Lapin Agile and WASP have played Off-Broadway.
