Broadway felt the love this week. Fans went wild for newly released photos of Beyoncé, who plays Nala in the highly anticipated live-action version of The Lion King (as you probably already know), hanging with her onstage counterpart Sydnee Winters. The Queens aptly assembled at WACO (Where Art Can Occur) Theater Center’s Lion King-themed Wearable Art Gala in L.A. on Saturday, June 1. Sydnee was invited to perform Shadowland with her cast at the star-studded fundraiser. Meanwhile, it was a double whammy for Bey, as she celebrated her upcoming Disney movie and also supported her mom.

WACO is a nonprofit gallery and performance space founded by Beyoncé mother Tina Knowles and her husband Richard Lawson to empower artists. Celebrities like Jay Z and Blue Ivy, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Tiffany Haddish, Tyler Perry, Anthony Anderson and Magic Johnson made up the glittering guest list at the worthwhile event.

The magical meeting was made complete by the ladies’ fashion choices. It’s hard to imagine that anyone’s outfit could steal glances while Sydnee was wearing the iconic Julie Taymor costume that has lit up the Great White Way for over twenty years, but then again, Beyoncé is not just anyone.

The international superstar was the real head-turner of the night in an epic custom catsuit. Dipped in gold, the embellished ensemble featured a sparkling bodysuit, billowing cape and an unmissable lion motif.

The photos of the lionesses were uncoincidentally released exactly one month ahead of The Lion King roaring onto movie screens on July 19. Staying true to the classic tale, director Jon Favreau has utilized talents like Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen and, of course, Queen B to bring the classic tale to life in a whole new way. Can’t wait to see it? Don’t worry – The Lion King is currently shining bright on Broadway and we’ve got the hookup.
