Disney to Revive Beauty and the Beast on Broadway
No, you didn’t read the headline incorrectly. According to Disney Theatrical Productions’ President Thomas Schumacher, a revival of Beauty and the Beast will come to Broadway – at some point. Schumacher told ABC News, despite not having a specific timeline set just yet for the revival, “…I’m deep in it…so yeah, it’s happening.” We have our “I need six eggs” villager’s voice ready – just in case.

2019 Stars in the Alley Hosts Alex Brightman and Michael James Scott Announced
On Friday, May 10 at 1 p.m., Stars in the Alley returns to Shubert Alley, West of Seventh Ave. between 44th and 45th Streets. This year’s spectacle features performances from over 20 Broadway shows, including Hadestown, Frozen, Mean Girls, Tootsie and more. The event finds its man of the hour in freshly announced host Alex Brightman, a Tony nominee currently starring in Beetlejuice as the titular character. Aladdin’s Michael James Scott (Genie) will tackle the duties of backstage, behind-the-scenes hosting. Follow Michael’s antics live on Instagram, @Broadway. Rain or shine, don’t miss this always-entertaining, free outdoor concert.

Rock of Ages Returns to New York City Off-Broadway
From June 19 to September 29, Rock of Ages will play New World Stages in honor of its 10th anniversary. The Tony-nominated musical’s original creative team will helm the limited engagement Off-Broadway, though casting has yet to be announced.

Waitress: Shoshana Bean & Jeremy Jordan Extend Runs, Plus Caitlin Houlahan & Noah Galvin  
Big news this week over at the diner on West 47th Street. Leading players Shoshana Bean (Wicked) and Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan (CW’s SupergirlNewsies) have both extended their runs in Waitress as Jenna and Dr. Pomatter, respectively, through June 2. (Their previously announced final performance was May 12.) Plus, former cast member Caitlin Houlahan will reprise the role of Dawn, beginning April 29, with Noah Galvin (Dear Evan Hansen, The Real O’Neals) returning to Broadway as Ogie.

Kiss Me, Kate! Revival Cast Album to be Released
The 2019 revival company of Kiss Me, Kate! will record a Broadway cast album with Ghostlight Records. Kurt Deutsch and Lawrence Manchester will produce the album, to be released this season. The limited engagement currently plays the Roundabout Theatre, starring Tony winner Kelli O’Hara (The King and I, The Bridges of Madison County) and Will Chase (Something Rotten!, Nashville) through an extended date of June 30.
