Broadway Beat: ‘RENT’ Live Cast Announced, ‘The Cher Show’ Digital Lottery, More

FOX Releases RENT Casting for Live Broadcast
On Sunday, January 27, Broadway returns to the nation’s living rooms in FOX’s latest live musical production of RENT. FOX announced this week that the cast will be led by Emmy nominee and Tony Award winner Brandon Victor Dixon (Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert), Jordan Fisher (Hamilton, 2017 winner of Dancing with the Stars), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical, Grease: Live), Kiersey Clemons (Hearts Beat Loud), Mario (Empire), Tinashe (Dancing with the Stars), and Valentina (RuPaul’s Drag Race). Keala Settle (Waitress, The Greatest Showman) will perform the iconic solo from “Seasons of Love.”

Laura Benanti Begins My Fair Lady Performances
Now starring in the iconic role of Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady is Broadway veteran and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti. Last seen onstage in shows like Meteor Shower and She Loves Me, Benanti also can be seen on television shows like The Detour, Younger and through a reoccurring role as Melania Trump on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

Hillary and Clinton Cast Announced for Broadway Run
Two Tony and Emmy Award winners – Laurie Metcalf and John Lithgow – will star in the upcoming Broadway premiere of playwright Lucas Hnath’s Hillary and Clinton. Zak Orth now joins the cast as Hillary Clinton’s chief campaign strategist, and Peter Francis James as former president Barack Obama. Hnath’s play follows Hillary Clinton in the 2008 primaries as she juggles struggles with her husband and her failing presidential campaign. The show begins previews at the Golden Theatre on March 16 before opening on April 18.

The Cher Show Announces Digital Lottery
As previews begin today on November 1 at the Neil Simon Theatre, The Cher Show also starts its digital lottery for tickets. $30 tickets will be available for each performance online through the lottery.
