Are you ready kids? I can’t hear you! Oh, who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants – and he’s coming to Broadway! Opening at the Palace Theater later this fall is SpongeBob SquarePants, The Broadway Musical, the first Big Broadway show for Nickelodeon.

Television’s most beloved sea creature, and all the characters of Bikini Bottom, will be headed to the Great White Way late this fall. But perhaps the most exciting news is the collection of phenomenal, well-known artists that are lending their talent to bring the underwater kingdom to life. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, John Legend, Sara Bareilles, Panic! At the Disco, T.I., the Flaming Lips, Cyndi Lauper, They Might be Giants and Lady Antebellum have all signed on to contribute to the score.

The musical tells the story of SpongeBob and his friends as they face a crisis from a nearby volcano that puts everyone in their beloved town in jeopardy. And it’s up to SpongeBob himself to save his home, and all of the people – or rather fish (and the occasional squirrel in an underwater suit) – in it.

Appropriate for audiences of all ages, this show promises to be the silly, delightful fun that kids are used to from watching the wildly popular cartoon, but it also has a little something for the adults as well. Not to mention a killer score provided by some of the greatest musicians of the century.

Ethan Slater is stepping into the role of SpongeBob SquarePants, with Gavin Less as Squidward, Lilli Cooper as Sandy Cheeks and Danny Skinner as Patrick. So get your tickets today for what promises to be one of Broadway’s most highly anticipated shows. If nautical nonsense be something you wish… ah, you know what to do!
