Give Dad the Gift of Broadway

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and if you’re anything like most people, you’re probably wondering what unique gesture or gift you can give your Dad to show him that you care. Why not opt for an experience the two of you can enjoy together? Sure, a traditional choice might be a ball game or something like that, but the theater is for everyone. So why not take Dad to a show? Here are the best options for your Father’s Day foray to Broadway.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Roald Dahl’s beloved tale has been delighting children for countless decades, first as a book, then as a film (and a remake of that film!) and now as a Broadway musical. Starring Christian Borle as Willy Wonka, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tells the story of Charlie Bucket, who goes with his grandfather to take a tour of the mysterious Wonka chocolate factory. It’s a story with many layers, not the least of which is a child’s relationship to their parents and guardians. Get tickets to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The Lion King

This Tony Award-winning musical boasts some of the finest costume design and choreography that Broadway has ever seen, and it’s got the trophies to show for it. Based on the Disney animated film of the same name, The Lion King tells the story of Simba, a headstrong lion cub who must learn to become king. And if you’ve seen the film, then you know that Simba’s relationship with his father, Mufasa, is at the very heart of the story. Get tickets to The Lion King

The Book of Mormon
For the Dad that loves to laugh, try The Book of Mormon, a wildly raucous story about mormon missionaries in Africa. This irreverent comedy has taken home scores of awards, and was created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the same team behind the South Park television series. The New York Time’s theater critic Ben Brantley called it "the best musical of this century." Certainly, your father deserves nothing but the best! Get tickets to The Book of Mormon
