They say the early bird gets the worm, but this is The Big Apple and we don’t want any worms in it. Instead, this early access tour gets you a host of amazing information you never knew about The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Arrive before the crowds pile up and enjoy a very informative and detailed tour of The Statue of Liberty first thing in the morning. Your morning begins at 8:30am with a tour through the monuments in Battery Park before boarding the ferry ride to Lady Liberty. Your guide will take you to the base of the statue where you will be able to gain access to the pedestal where most tours don’t get to go. This part of the tour includes a 215 step climb with no elevator access, so be sure that you are able to make that ascent and descent.

You will learn much about the Statue of Liberty’s history including the fact that it’s a gift from France. You’ll also learn how one of the architects that designed her was Gustav Eiffel himself. Next stop is Ellis Island where 12 million immigrants were processed and granted access to the American Dream.  There is an interactive immigration museum on Ellis Island that you will get to experience. Your expert guide will detail so much about the history of both the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, you’ll learn more than other audio tours or self-guided tours could teach you.

Small groups of 20 people or less facilitate this type of personalized tour. Hearing all of this information from a passionate guide who clearly loves this part of New York and American history makes a big difference and really enhances the entire experience. As a bonus, the tour has close up views of Liberty Island, Ellis Island, and city skyline from the water.
