Overview

J.B. Priestley’s Time and the Conways skillfully chronicles the demise of Britain’s upper class in the years between the two World Wars. The play opens in 1919 after the first Great War has ended and the family elaborately celebrates the peace and a daughter’s 21st birthday. Their future seems full of happiness and prosperity. But Mrs. Conway (Elizabeth McGovern) has a vision of their fate 18 years later and it’s not a pretty picture. Can the Conways learns from their mother’s predictions and learn to accept life and reject artificial class distinctions? Tony-winning director Rebecca Taichman (Indecent) stages this intriguing and thoughtful drama, never before seen on Broadway since its 1938 debut, from the award-winning Roundabout Theater Company. The cast also includes Tony winner Gabriel Ebert (Matilda), Tony winner Steven Boyer (Hand to God), and Obie winner Brooke Bloom (You Got Older).
