London's Menier Chocolate Factory joins forces with Roundabout Theatre Company to bring the first revival of Travesties to Broadway.

The play, written by Tom Stoppard, first opened on Broadway in 1974 and won the Tony Award for Best Play. In 2016, the London-based Menier Chocolate Factory brought the play back onstage, starring Tom Hollander as one of the tale’s leading characters, the British military official.

The story follows an Oscar Wildian theme as the military official, Henry Carr, recounts the events of his serving in Zurich in 1917 for the audience; he then invents a fictional meeting of legendary writer James Joyce and communist Vladimir Lenin, imagining for viewers what may have transpired had the pair ever met.

On Broadway, Travesties will find direction from the Tony-nominated Patrick Marber with Hollander back in the reigns of the show’s military official. The revival begins previews at the American Airlines Theatre on March 29, 2018 and opens on April 24, 2018.
